Overlays and backgrounds are stored as bitmaps - which are just lots of colored dots. There's no line information stored, so before you can use either overlays or backgrounds in regging, the necessary regging lines must be created.
For overlays, the regging line most commonly required is the edge of the overlay, where it changes from opaque to transparent. The Image Processor can detect this edge and automatically create a regging line from it. The overlay must have an alpha channel which is completely transparent in the 'background' areas, and completely opaque in the overlay itself. For best regging performance, the change at the edges from opaque to transparent should take place across a number of pixels.
Backgrounds are entirely opaque, and have no edge for Animo 2.0 to detect. You must instead create a level by tracing the lines from the background:
Either way, you'll end up with a level containing the regging lines you need.
